DB Schenker opens first owned logistics centre in the Middle East
GERMAN forwarding giant DB Schenker has opened its own facility in Dubai Logistics City (DLC), the first part of a three-phase growth plan which should provide 25,000 square metres of warehousing space by 2019.
The state-of-the-art logistics centre now has a warehouse space of 7,200 square metres with two mezzanine levels dedicated for value added services and spare parts operations, said a company statement.
It contains temperature-controlled areas as well as ambient temperature zones. The facility became 100 per cent utilised only two months after it opened.
"Being located only a few metres away from the runways of Al Maktoum airport and Emirates Road and only 15 minutes away from the Seaport enables us to offer first class integrated transport and warehousing solutions for our global customers," said DB Schenker's local contract logistics chief Ako Djaf.
