MSC calls at Oman's Salalah on new service, linking Asia to the Mideast
THE Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has started calling at the Port of Salalah in Oman on its new Falcon service that links Asia to the Middle East.
The service called at Salalah port after sailing from Colombo loaded with 7,849 TEU. It is in a fleet of eight 8,000-TEU vessels that connect China with Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Salalah port CEO David Gledhill said the new service ensures faster shipping service between the Far East and Oman and meets the growing needs of the market in Salalah.
It will also open new opportunities to serve the vast interior regions, reported Bahrain's Gulf Digital News.
Salalah port, the biggest in Oman, handled 2.6 million TEU in 2015, in addition to 12.5 million tons of cargo.
