False alarm fire in cargo hold brings 747F back after Hong Kong takeoff
A POLAR Air Cargo 747-400 freighter flight from Hong Kong to Seoul was climbing from the runway last Friday when it needed to return to Hong Kong because of a fire alarm, reported Aviation Herald of Salzberg, Austria.
The climb stopped at 7,000 feet and the flight returned to Hong Kong with the crew advising they had received a cargo hold fire warning and needed fire engines.
The aircraft landed on runway 07R about 13 minutes after departure and vacated the runway. Emergency services did not find any trace of fire, heat or smoke.
Emergency services reported the crew advised of a cargo hold fire indication. No evidence of a fire was discovered, no damage occurred to the aircraft.
The aircraft remained on the ground for 17.5 hours, then departed again.
