AF-KLM Cargo flies 0.9pc more revenue tonne-kilometres in April
AIR FRANCE朘LM Cargo (AF-KL Cargo) flew 709 million revenue tonne-kilometres in April this year, a year-on-year increase of 0.9 per cent, while capacity contracted two per cent to reach 1.2 billion available tonne-kilometres.
However, the results for the first four months of the year are less bright, after cargo volumes declined 7.5 per cent year on year, while capacity was down 6.6 per cent.
As a result, the average load factor over the January to April period shrank by 0.6 percentage points to 59.7 per cent
Over time, the cargo airline is withdrawing significant amounts of freighter capacity, which will be compensated through the introduction of new 'freight-friendly" wide-bodied passenger aircraft, such as the Boeing 777, with their extensive belly-hold capacities.
