Diversified Port Holdings buys up Liberty Terminals at Savannah

DIVERSIFIED Port Holdings (DPH) has acquired Liberty Terminals based in Savannah, Georgia with additional operations in Charleston, South Carolina. Liberty Terminals will operate as Seaonus Stevedoring-Savannah LLC.

The acquisition aligns Liberty and Seaonus's vision, values, mission, and core competencies, enhancing the company's future growth across a greater geographical market, reported the American Journal of Transportation.

Liberty Terminals operates on the oldest maritime facility on the US east coast. In 2008 the berth was refurbished with a US$14 million dollar investment, creating a breakbulk facility with a 1,300-foot long deep-water berth.

Liberty Terminals is a breakbulk and bulk stevedore, occupying 24 acres on a private terminal in Savannah for the past 20 years. The facility includes a 144,000-square foot warehouse and off dock laydown areas serviced by CSX Rail.

In addition to Savannah, Liberty's Charleston facility occupies 750 feet of berth space at Pier Juliet with a 34-foot draft. Rail is serviced by CSX and Norfolk Southern.
