HK temporary navigational channels during bridge deck building works
IN Hong Kong, the existing northeast-bound and southwest-bound temporary navigation channels across the works area of the Link Road has been shifted eastwards by 400 metres and 500 metres respectively, to facilitate bridge deck construction works, with effect from May 5. The relocated area will remain in place for three months.
The lateral light buoys and fixed red lights marking the existing navigation channels will be relocated to the following positions (WGS 84 Datum) to mark the new navigation channels.
New northeast-bound navigation channel -- Lateral light buoys: (LR1) 22 deg. 16.289'N / 113 deg. 51.995'E; (LR2) 22 deg. 16.299'N / 113 deg. 51.932'E; (LR3) 22 deg. 16.395'N / 113 deg. 52.015'E; (LR4) 22 deg. 16.406'N / 113 deg. 51.952'E.
Fixed red lights: (FR1) 22 deg. 16.494'N / 113 deg. 52.034'E; (FR2) 22 deg. 16.492'N / 113 deg. 51.969'E.
New southwest-bound navigation channel -- Lateral light buoys: (LR5) 22 deg. 16.726'N / 113 deg. 52.012'E; (LR6) 22 deg. 16.740'N / 113 deg. 51.926'E; (LR7) 22 deg. 16.619'N / 113 deg. 51.992'E; (LR8) 22 deg. 16.633'N / 113 deg. 51.906'E.
Fixed red lights: (FR3) 22 deg. 16.524'N / 113 deg. 51.974'E; (FR4) 22 deg. 16.540'N / 113 deg. 51.890'E.
The width of the new northeast-bound navigation channel is 90 metres to permit vessels with an air draft not exceeding 38 metres to pass through. The width of the new southwest-bound navigation channel is 100 metres, enabling vessels not exceeding 41 metres to pass through.
Guard boats will be stationed at the approaches to the new navigation channels to guide vessels on the approach to the navigation channels, according to Hong Kong Marine Department Notice No.50 of 2016.
