Raft of rate hikes, special charges from CMA CGM from mid-May
FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has announced a US$200 per TEU rate increase on all cargo from Asia including Japan, southeast Asia and Bangladesh to northern Europe, including the UK and the full range from Portugal to Finland/Estonia effective May 16.
CMA CGM also announced an emergency rate restoration of $250 per TEU from all Asian ports including Japan to the full Mediterranean, including north Africa and Black Sea ports to be implemented May 15.
CMA CGM also announced a $225 per TEU charge because of increasing congestion of up to 15 days in Zanzibar, Tanzania, which is beyond their control.
The company will implement an "Emergency Operational surcharge" in Zanzibar applicable to all shipments until further notice effective May 14.
