HAFFA's AGM marks start of the second year for executive committee
THE Hongkong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics Limited (HAFFA) heard presentations this week in e-commerce and cross border trade at the Regal Kowloon Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Danny Chan, Hongkong Post director of product development, marketing and sales) gave a talk on Hongkong Post Services for cross-border e-commerce.
This was followed by a discussion on the theme "Are we ready for the transformation driven by cross border e-commerce logistics?" delivered by business consultant Almon Yu of Global Parcel Network (Holding) Limited.
Presentations were held at the Annual General Meeting, marking the start of the second year of the two-year term for the current chairman, Cliff Sullivan of A-Sonic Logistics (HK) Limited, and the HAFFA executive committee.
Since 2011, the term of each HAFFA executive committee has been extended from one to two years to achieve continuity of the Association's vision and policy implementation, and to better utilise HAFFA's manpower and resources. The next HAFFA election will be held in 2017 for the 2017/2019 term.
"These are exciting times for our industry and for HAFFA. In the year we celebrate our Golden Jubilee, our efforts to strengthen the industry's future take on even greater significance," said Mr Sullivan.
"We have achieved much over the last 12 months, and I look forward to working with the executive committee in the year ahead to achieve our goals of meeting the challenges we currently face, and ensuring the industry is ideally positioned to take full advantage of the many opportunities for growth," he said.
Other principal officers of the 2015/2017 HAFFA committee are vice chairman Brian Wu of BEL International Logistics Limited; vice chairman Danny Wong of Cargo Freight Services Limited; vice chairman Patrick Yip of RCS Logistics Limited; honorary secretary Ronnie Leung of AE Cargo Services Limited and honorary treasurer Sydney Chan of ACE Protrans Forwarding Limited.
In addition to the principal officers, members of the Committee are Raymond Kan (Able Force Freight Limited); Ringo Cheung (Cargo Services Airfreight Limited) Eddie Law (Dimerco Air Forwarders (HK) Ltd); Elmen Chu (Global Alliance Logistics (HK) Limited); Michael Hamnett (Hankyu Hanshin Express (HK) Limited); Kenny Lee (Infinity Cargo Express Limited); Gary Lau (Jet-Speed Air Cargo Forwarders (HK) Limited); Elsa Yuen (Korchina Logistics (HK) Limited); Bruce Yau (NAF Global Logistics Limited); Amy Wong (U-Freight Limited) and Joseph Lee (Worldtrans Air-Sea Service Limited).
Established in 1966, HAFFA is responsible for setting industry standards as well as providing educational courses which enhance the professional standards of freight forwarders and logistics services providers.
