XPO Logistics wins it its first confrontation with French labour union
CONNECTICUT's XPO Logistics, having recently acquired French forwarding giant Norbert Dentressangle, has had a victory against striking French contract logistics workers who no longer had the money to continue their work stoppage.
The strike had been called in protest against rationalisation moves at two sites and to further demands on safeguarding jobs. Unions were also protesting against the reduction in an annual staff bonus, which they say has been cut by more than half of the 2014 figure.
"Activity has returned to normal at all sites," said the company.
Said a union spokesman: "Our members have returned to work because of financial hardship after five to six days on strike - not because we have reached an agreement with management."
