Volga-Dnepr, Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport sign cargo hub deal
RUSSIA's Volga-Dnepr Group and Moscow's Sheremetyevo international airport have signed an agreement on a long-term cooperation, concerning the development of a cargo hub at the Russian gateway.
The accord aims to bring together the expertise of the airline and airport in order to influence development of the air cargo business, said Volga-Dnepr Group, reported London's Heavy Lift magazine.
Said Sheremetyevo International Airport director general Michael Vasilenko: "For our airport, agreement of such level and context is the key to success as it anticipates a systematic approach towards enhancement of cargo infrastructure."
The cooperation involves Volga-Dnepr guaranteeing an agreed volume of transit at the airport, as well as transfer and import-export cargo flows. The deal will also see the construction of an up-to-date hangar complex and expansion of cargo facilities to offer handling for special commodities.
