Nigerian leader keen to forge economic, infrastructure ties with China
NIGERIAN President Muhammadu Buhari says his country and China can tap vast opportunities to cooperate in the areas of agriculture, mining, electric power generation, and road and railway construction. The comments came ahead of his state visit to China.
On trade and economic ties, the Nigerian leader said his government remains committed to contracts signed by its predecessor with Chinese firms on railway, roads and hydroelectric dam projects, and is keen to further strengthen the Nigeria-China ties.
China has the technical and financial capacity and the experience of development while retaining the goodwill to help Nigeria, said Mr Buhari.
"So, really, this is an opportunity Nigeria cannot afford to lose," he told Xinhua.
