MacGregor signs deal to fit 5 Hapag 10,500-TEUers with loose lashings
MacGREGOR, part of Finland's Cargotec, has an order to provide loose lashings for five 10,500-TEU Hapag-Lloyd containerships being built in Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries' Korean yards.
This order builds on a previous contract, which MacGregor announced in September 2015, and completes the vessels optimised MacGregor cargo handling solution.
Scheduled for delivery from October 2016 and May 2017, the system will ensure that Hapag Lloyd will have the most cargo efficient ships for their size in the world, said the MacGregor release.
"Loose lashings are the vital 'hands-on' component of a containership's cargo system, but the key for success is to optimise the whole system as one" said MacGregor marketing manager Jens Fuge.
"In this challenging container shipping market there is no room for mediocre container ships designs, maximum cargo density capacity is required to stay profitable," he said.
Once a vessel enters service, MacGregor will analyse the cargo system performance and offer guidance where necessary.
