Omani air cargo agents raise door-to-door fees to India via Delhi
CARGO agents are raising door-to-door air cargo charges between Muscat in Oman and New Delhi airport that serves as the single transit point for air freight from Oman to India, by 100 baisas to OMR1.3 (US$3.37) per kilogramme.
Representatives of door-to-door cargo agents said the price hike follows a recent increase in cargo rates by airlines by 100-200 baisas to 650 baisas per kilogramme, and other cost escalations, including an increase in cargo handling charges at the Muscat airport, reports the Times of Oman.
"We are passing on the additional cost to the end consumers," said Mohammed Ali senior official of a Muscat-based cargo company.
Mr Ali said that since India allows such door-to-door parcel service only at New Delhi airport, clearance and delivery expenses to India's southern states have increased due to hightransportation costs.
