Cargo 2000 rebrands as Cargo iQ as new members join standards group
CARGO 2000, otherwise known as C2K, has been set on establishing better standards in the air freight sector since 1997 has undergone a rebranding and will now be known as Cargo iQ, reported the UK's Handy Shipping Guide.
Cargo iQ lays out a pathway for the industry standards to be developed by its members. It has now become a global collective of 80 major airlines, freight forwarders, ground-handlers, truckers and IT specialists.
With news of the rebranding, new members have signed up, namely Brussels Airport, Frankfurt Airport, Vienna Airport plc, and CargoAware, a division of Franwell.
The biggest coup for the group, however, was Emirates SkyCargo's decision to join the organisation as a full member.
Said Emirates vice president Nabil Sultan: "With the rebranding, and the launch of their strategic transformation programme, we felt the time was right to become a member. We look forward to making meaningful contributions."
Ten million airport-to-airport and 5.5 million door-to-door shipments were measured by Cargo iQ in 2015, enabling members to take action to improve and standardise internal processes by identifying where quality was an problem.
Cargo iQ believes that by speaking the same language members are also able to follow best practices and define common processes with industry partners in the supply chain.
