Bridge across Bosphorus now open, creates Europe-Asia freight corridor
THE last section of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge across the Bosphorus linking Europe and Asia, has been put in place, reports GAC Hot Port News.
The event was marked with a ceremony commemorating the third time the continents of Europe and Asia have been connected by a bridge.
No more closures for bridge works are expected on the Bosphorus over which much freight is moving and expected to move as the route becomes more popular.
The length of the bridge is at 1,408 metres (2,164 metres in all) and with a height of 329 metres.
