Air France-KLM tackles temp-sensitive cargo with 'Kold Karts'
AIR FRANCE-KLM has launched new "Kold Kart" airside temperature-controlled transporters in an effort to solve the problem of temperature fluctuations during ramp handling operations, starting with airports in Los Angeles and Mexico where hot weather is a major concern.
"When it comes to carrying temperature sensitive cargo - whether perishables or pharmaceuticals - keeping the entire logistics chain of transport at the right cool temperature, required both by the shippers and by the products constraints," the airline said.
"This is all the more true for locations, such as Mexico for instance, where high temperatures are experienced on a regular basis and where the ramp operations are quite distant from the warehouse."
