SeaLand's low sulphur surcharge April 1 for North America, Caribbean
SEALAND, a Maersk unit based in Miramar, Florida, will levy a low sulphur surcharge (LSS) for the second quarter of 2016, from April 1, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
The surcharge will apply to all cargo with load port, transshipment and/or discharge port in Emission Control Areas (ECA) in North America including Puerto Rico.
The charge for the coasts North America to and from the west coast of South America, the Caribbean and Central America will be US$80 per FEU, the surcharge being applied equally to dry/reefer boxes.
