Freight Transport Association to examine state of UK's air cargo sector
THE UK's Freight Transport Association (FTA) has appointed a working group to focus on problems affecting air cargo sector at a national and international level in years to come.
The new group is open to all FTA members and will concentrate on establishing a clear vision and strategy for air freight, and promoting the economic benefits of the sector to governments across the UK and the European Union, reported London's Air Cargo News.
Said FTA global policy chief Alex Veitch: "The group will enable us to develop an action plan to engage constructively with airport owners, operators and airlines to improve air freight facilities, and to continue to engage with UK government on aviation capacity in the southeast of England."
The new group will report to FTA's British Shippers' Council and will operate on a 'task and finish" basis, meaning it will deliver agreed objectives and then disband. Three meetings are planned for this year with the first scheduled for April.
