Mobile app for cargo goes into operation at Delhi International Airport
DELHI International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has launched a mobile application for cargo operations designed to track the movement of shipments in real time and facilitate electronic clearance of cargo through the customs department.
DIAL said the application, DIAL Cargo, provides authorised access to operators, customs, custom house agents, airlines and freight forwarders. It pointed out that this would enable greater visibility for cargo operations and tangible cost and resource benefits, reported the Press Trust of India.
"DIAL Cargo app will benefit the entire Air Trade System where you can transact complete business functionalities such as tracking consignment, paying terminal charges, issuing delivery and carting orders and many such items in a paperless manner," DIAL chief executive I Prabhakara Rao said.
The mobile application can also integrate messages received from the Customs Electronic Data Interchange System and the Directorate General Systems and Data Management, according to Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).
