Cargologic Air kicks off operations with charter flight to Italy

BRITISH cargo airline Cargologic Air has commenced operations with a charter flight to Italy, after being awarded an Air Operator Certificate from the UK's Civil Aviation Authority.

The new carrier has another charter scheduled, from Munich to Upington, South Africa.

Cargologic Air - a subsidiary of AirBridgeCargo and part of Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group - is operating with a Boeing 747-400 freighter, which it leased from Aircastle in November 2015, reported Atlanta area Air Cargo World.

AirBridgeCargo CEO Denis Ilin said the new airline would mainly offer charters, but also has a twice-weekly scheduled Stansted-Frankfurt-Libreville-Johannesburg-Nairobi route.

Cargologic Air is majority owned by Cargo Logic Holding Ltd, whose sole shareholder is the president of the Volga-Dnepr Group, Alexey Isaikin. The CEO of Cargologic and owner of one share is Dmitry Grishin, the former CEO of Volga-Dnepr Airlines.
