Cargolux enjoys higher volumes for 3rd year as demand rises 7.4pc
LUXEMBOURG's cargo airline Cargolux has achieved volume growth of 7.4 per cent, airlifting 889,746 tonnes in 2015 with an average load factor of 66 per cent against 66.9 per cent the year before.
The carrier took delivery of two Boeing 747-8F aircraft last year, raising its total fleet to 25 freighters. It has plans to add additional aircraft in Luxembourg and in China through its joint venture airline, Cargolux China, with Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Co.
Many European rivals saw demand fall in 2015 with Lufthansa volumes falling 3.4 per cent to 9.9 billion revenue cargo tonne kilometres (FTK), while Air France-KLM saw demand drop 8.5 per cent to 9 billion FTK, IAG recorded a three per cent slip to 5.3 billion FTK and Finnair recorded a 13.7 per cent decline to 787 million FTK, reported London's Air Cargo News.
