Eagerly-awaited Cargolux China to take to the skies in 2017
CARGOLUX China is to commence operations in 2017 from its base at Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport in the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone and will focus on transpacific and intra-Asia routes.
Cargolux, which has a 35 per cent share in the new airline, plans to invest US$77 million in Cargolux China. Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Co. (HNCA) will own 49 per cent of Cargolux China.
The other investors in Cargolux China are Xin Gang Investment and Development Co Ltd, which is responsible for construction and development in the economic zone, and the Henan Airport Group, each of which will divide up the remaining 16 per cent, reported Atlanta area Air Cargo World.
Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport's master plan through 2040 includes five runways (one of which will be solely dedicated to cargo flights), four passenger terminals and expanded cargo facilities. Cargo capacity is anticipated to rise to three million tonnes annually.
