PACTL breaks Pudong cargo record in 2015, up 6.47pc to 1.6 million tonnes
SHANGHAI Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co Ltd (PACTL) has posted a new record for freight volume in 2015, rising 6.47 per cent year-on-year to 1.6 million tonnes.
This result beat the previous annual record set in 2014. PACTL's overall import cargo volumes increased 8.98 per cent year on year to 651,657 tonnes.
International imports increased 9.39 per cent to 602,004 tonnes and domestic imports went up 4.26 per cent to 49,653 tonnes.
The export cargo volumes grew by 4.81 per cent to a figure of 947,654 tonnes in total. International exports showed a growth rate of 4.42 per cent to 892,223 tonnes and domestic exports increased by 11.51 per cent to 55,431 tonnes.
"Despite difficult market conditions, we were able to develop our business fully in line with our expectations. This is evident, for example, in the ongoing growth in international imports, which was caused by the rising demand for imported consumer goods such as perishables, pharmaceuticals and other high-value articles" said PACTL vice president Lutz Grzegorz.
PACTL also increased market share in 2015. The company processed 49.4 per cent of the air cargo handled at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) in 2015, an increase of 1.4 per cent year on year
