Services Air cargo plane overshoots runway in Congo, claiming 7 lives

AN Airbus A310 belonging to cargo airline, Services Air, has overshot the runway in Mbuji-Mayi in the central Congo, smashing into homes and killing seven people on the ground, but the four crew members onboard were not injured.

Residents told Top Congo FM radio that there was bad weather and the plane landed in the middle of the runway before overrunning it, reported The Associated Press.

The provincial governor, Alphonse Ngoyi Kasanji, said the plane made several attempts before landing. He said an investigation has been opened into the incident.
