Alaska air cargo complex closes after grenades found in Amazon parcel
AN Amazon parcel containing inert grenades prompted police to evacuate an Alaska air cargo building at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, according to Alaska's KTUU news.
The police were called in after an employee came across a suspicious Amazon shipping package.
The staff noticed the alarming outline of grenades in X-ray images of a cardboard shipping box, prompting the precautionary response, said Sgt Mike Oden of the Airport Police and Fire Department.
"We called in the explosive ordnance disposal team because we weren't able to verify what was in the package initially," said Sgt Oden.
No arrests were made and the cargo complex was re-opened 35 minutes later.
