China's SF Airlines receives its first Boeing 767-300 cargo plane

BOEING has delivered a 767-300 Boeing converted freighter (BCF) to Shenzhen-based SF Airlines at a ceremony where the courier company signed a letter of intent to purchase a 737-800BCF.

This is the first of five planes SF has ordered from the planemaker, reports BusinessFinanceNews of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Said SF Airlines vice president Xi Liang: "Our goal is always to provide our customers with a higher quality, highly efficient express service. This is a goal we believe the 767BCF will help us accomplish.

"With its larger capacity and higher fuel efficiency, we look forward to the 767BCF ensuring quick shipping to our customers," he said.

Said Boeing vice president Mike Fleming: "This delivery marks a significant milestone for SF Airlines, Boeing and the express cargo market in China.

This is another great example of Boeing's commitment to supporting Chinese cargo carriers through our converted freighter programmes as they face increasing market demand."

Boeing has received 184 orders for the 767-300BCF year-to-date. One hundred and nine of these had already been delivered, by November 2015. To put that into perspective, the 737-800 received total 4,915 orders, with 3,849 planes already delivered.

In the next 20 years, Boeing expects world air cargo traffic to advance 4.7 per cent year on year. Because of an increased concentration on the Chinese market by multinational organisations, its domestic and inter-Asian development is expected to surge 6.7 per cent and 6.5 per cent year on year respectively.
