Egypt seeks global security firm to review, enhance airport security
THE Egyptian government plans to appoint before the end of December a global security firm to review airport security, after meeting with risk advisory companies in Cairo to hear their proposals to enhance airport security in the country.
The selected company will be required to audit aviation security at airports across Egypt, encompassing a review of security and safety procedures, equipment and training.
The chosen company will then make recommendations to the government and work alongside the government to support the implementation of the recommendations and additional training of security personnel, as well as conduct ongoing and regular assessments, a statement issued by the Egyptian Tourism Authority said.
Egypt recently passed an audit by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO that included representatives from Russian, Dutch, Emirati and Italian airlines. The country is also collaborating with British, German and Russian government delegations, which have been reviewing and providing recommendations related to security.
Said Tourism Minster Hesham Zaazou: "Key ministries, under leadership of the Prime Minister, are working in close collaboration to make urgent enhancements to airport security."
