Emirates unhappy with Chinese refusal to widen landing, marketing rights
UAE's carrier Emirates is frustrated with Beijing's refusal to widen landing and marketing rights beyond Shanghai and the Chinese capital, reports Dubai's Arabian Supply Chain.
Emirates seeks permission to fly its fleet of A380 super jumbos to Chinese destinations other than Beijing and Shanghai.
"It is clear that the current air service agreement arrangements are insufficient to meet present and future demand," said the Emirates Airline statement.
Emirates is not happy with air service talks held by the UAE and China. Emirates, which in the 12 months to March 31, carried 1.3 million passengers on its China services, wants access to more secondary aviation hubs in China.
Air cargo carried between the two countries increased to 103,000 tonnes over the 12 months to March 31, 2015.
This according to documentation supplied Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The Emirates Airline fact sheet did not detail the amount of air cargo carried during the previous year, but said the figures represented significant growth.
