German forwarders wary of air cargo co-loading as rivals steal customers

NEUTRAL consolidator AMI Germany says agents remain 'distrustful of co-loading, with good reason" because of potential leakage accessing confidential information about their customers and shipments.

Germany's freight forwarders remain wary of air freight air freight co-loading 10 years after AMI successfully entered the German market and pioneered the trade-only air freight wholesale concept, the company revealed this week.

Celebrating its first decade in the German market, AMI Germany said it now had 700 customers on its books and covered all of the country's international gateways, reports Lloyd's Loading List.

But some forwarders in Germany remain suspicious of the idea of air freight co-loading services involving multiple forwarders, presumably because of concerns about rivals accessing confidential information.

Said AMI Germany general manager Gottfried Matheis: "The German market is distrustful of co-loading, and is taking time to realise that AMI is different, and brings unique neutrality to the process."
