LAX mail volumes soar as e-commerce revives postal services
MAIL volumes, increasingly linked to e-commerce growth, soared 17.5 per cent to 8,124 tons year on year through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in October, while overall cargo was only up 1.4 per cent to 183,772 tons.
Year to date in the first 10 months of 2015, mail volumes again soared, increasing 22.3 per cent year on year to 73,538 tons.
Meanwhile the year to date reading for freight was only 7.2 per cent up to 1,577,975. The combined figure increased 7.79 per cent to 1,638,074 tons.
