Evergreen spends US$390m on 10 more 2,800 TEU container vessels
TAIWAN's container carrier Evergreen Marine has signed a deal to buy another 10 new 2,800 TEU container vessels for up to US$390 million.
Five of the vessels will be built at Japan's Imabari Shipbuilding and the other five at Taiwan's CSBC Corp, according to media reports.
This is the fourth batch of 2,800 TEU boxships made by the Taipei-listed shipping line this year. In July, Evergreen made a similar order by booking five 2,800 TEU vessels at Imabari and another five at CSBC.
In August, the carrier ordered ten similar container vessels at CSBC, and in the following month, it booked ten 2,800 TEU container vessels at Imabari.
Details of the delivery schedule for the latest order have not been disclosed.
