A-E rates down 27.9pc to US$295/TEU, falling 8.6pc to USWC and down 8pc to USEC
SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe fell 27.9 per cent to US295 per TEU in the week ended on Friday after falling 39.3 per cent to US$409 per TEU in the week before, according to Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI), according to Reuters.
The current rates on the world's busiest route are widely seen as loss-making levels for container shipping companies and have fallen 70 per cent in three weeks.
On the Asia-Med run, rates fell 22.5 per cent in the week ending Friday to $315 per TEU after falling 37.2 per cent the week before to $406.
The spot rate to the US west coast fell 8.6 per cent to $922 per FEU and were 8.0 per cent down to US east coast to $1,688 per FEU.
