AEI wins conversion order from ACG for 15 Boeing 737s
AMERICAN passenger to freighter conversion specialist Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) has won a firm order from Aviation Capital Group (ACG) for 15 Boeing 737-800SF type aircraft, with an option for 15 more.
Terms were not disclosed, according to aircargonews, but AEI will commence the conformity B737-800SF modification in 2016 and expects to receive FAA Supplemental Type Certification in 2017.
To date, and accounting for recent firm orders and options, the potential orders for the AEI 737-800SF have now reached a total of 50 aircraft.
"ACG is a substantial player in the commercial aircraft leasing business, serving approximately 90 airlines in 40 countries," said AEI president Roy Sandri.
ACG chief executive Denis Kalscheur added: "ACG has enjoyed a very successful partnership with AEI, converting six 737-400 aircraft from passenger to freighter."
The AEI B737-800SF converted freighter will be able to accommodate eleven AAA full height containers or pallets and one AEP/AEH container for a total of 12 positions.
Depending upon the aircraft model and aircraft weight limits, the AEI B737-800SF will be able to carry a payload of up to 23.6 tonnes.
