Delta Air Lines leaves trade group, Airlines for America (A4A)
DELTA Air Lines, one of the top US carriers, is to exit the trade group, Airlines for America (A4A), in April 2016.
According to A4A's chief executive Nicholas Calio the airline diverged from the group's position that the private sector should help govern the US air traffic control system.
Industry observers fear the move could hinder the ability of US airlines to lobby as a united front in Washington DC.
"The US$5 million that Delta pays in annual dues to A4A can be better used to invest in employees and products to further enhance the Delta experience, and to support what we believe is a more efficient way of communicating in Washington," Delta said in a statement, reported Air Cargo World.
