Jan de Rijk Logistics wins contract from Norwegian Cargo
TRANSPORTATION and distribution provider Jan de Rijk Logistics has won a new road feeder service contract from Norwegian Cargo, the freight arm of low-cost air carrier Norwegian.
The arrangement extends Norwegian's delivery network to 50 airports around Europe.
The new agreement takes advantage of Norwegian's fast-growing long-haul network between London and five US cities: New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Boston.
Freight shipments from the US arriving in London with onward connections will now be transported daily by Jan de Rijk Logistic, to key European cargo gateways including Brussels, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, arriving less than 48 hours after departure, reported American Journal of Transportation (AJOT).
Head of cargo at Norwegian, Bjorn Erik Barman-Jenssen, said: "Norwegian Cargo can give forwarders even more peace of mind as Jan de Rijk's extensive trucking network, significant expertise and fleet of specialist vehicles will efficiently support our cargo operations."
Senior sales executive air cargo at Jan de Rijk Logistics, Robert Kleppers, said: "Jan de Rijk Logistics is TAPA TSR1 and IATA CEIV Pharma Handling certified, so we can offer any kind of service that will make Norwegian's cargo proposition even more compelling."
Norwegian Cargo offers freight capacity to all destinations in Scandinavia and a range of European destinations in addition to Bangkok, New York, Orlando, Oakland, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale. Norwegian's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft offers 15 tonnes of widebody capacity.
