UASC is named "Shipping Company of the Year" at Seatrade Maritime Awards

THE 'Environmental Responsibility' and 'The Shipping Company of the Year' awards have been presented to United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) at this year's Seatrade Maritime Awards for Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.

UASC's chairman Dr. Nabeel Al-Almudi was also honoured as 'The Personality of the Year' for his contribution to the shipping industry at the awards ceremony.

Receiving the environmental responsibility award is a result of the carrier's investment and expansion strategy, following the delivery of five 15,000 TEU and two 18,800-TEU LNG-ready vessels since November last year.

UASC believes that a long-term investment in eco-efficiency is central to its future growth, to the delivery of world-class service, and to maximising value for money for its customers, reported MarineLink.com.

The outstanding environmental credentials of the newbuilds are demonstrated through their performance as the CO2-output per TEU of the 18,800-TEU vessels is 60 per cent lower than a 13,500-TEU vessel delivered three years ago.

The ocean liner's expansion strategy and customer-focused approach, including the recent global cooperation agreements with other leading shipping companies providing UASC's customers with access to all major markets around the world, played a large part in the company receiving 'The Shipping Company of the Year' award.
