NYK donates bunk beds and sports equipment to school in China
NYK Line (China) Co., Ltd has donated to NYK Wangping Middle School, which is located in the rural area of Luoyang in Henan province, 30 bunk beds to improve the living conditions in the school's dormitory and some new sports supplies that are expected to enrich campus life.
The company's chief representative for China, Yuji Isoda, visited the school with officers from the Luoyang municipal government and Education Bureau to attend a ceremony in recognition of the event. The school and the government expressed their sincere gratitude to the NYK Group for its 14 consecutive years of support.
Through Project Hope, a Chinese public benefit project organised by the China Youth Development Foundation, the shipping and transportation group has sponsored the construction of two schools, NYK Wangping Middle School in 2001 and NYK Xuncun No. 1 Middle School in 2004.
Supporting education within local communities and areas that face special challenges is an important part of the group's continuing corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, a company statement said.
