Barge sinking near oil refinery closes Houston Ship Channel: USCG
A FIVE-MILE stretch of the Houston Ship Channel was closed early last week by a sunken barge near an oil refinery, said the US Coast Guard.
The barge sinking took place at the Kinder Morgan docks, across the channel from where Vince Bayou enters the channel, said the USCG.
Three refineries, Valero Energy Corp's Houston plant, Lyondell Basell's Houston Refinery and Petrobras Pasadena Refining System's Houston plant, are located upstream from the shut section or in the area where ship traffic is halted.
