DHL offers daily 767 freighter flights between Detroit and Cincinnati
GERMANY's DHL, the international express services provider, has announced a new flight that enhances service for US importers and exporters based in Michigan.
Stationed at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, the new Boeing 767-200 cargo flight enables DHL to provide earlier delivery times and later pick-up times, by one hour on average.
"International customers within Detroit and the surrounding areas, as well as in mid- and western Michigan, will greatly benefit from the new service," said a company statement.
The Boeing 767-200 flight operates daily between the DHL Americas hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) and Detroit, with a stop in Minneapolis to connect with freight routed to and from Canada.
It is operated by Atlas Air Inc, a unit of Atlas Air Worldwide, a leading global provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation operating services.
"Our expanded service window and the additional aircraft are essential to accommodate the increasing volumes generated by major automotive companies and suppliers," said DHL vice president Karsten Aufgebauer.
"We are continually enhancing our US network capabilities to ensure consistent, reliable service to our customers in the 220 countries and territories we serve," he said.
Said Detroit airport CEO Thomas Naughton: "We are extremely pleased to welcome DHL. While carriers at Detroit Metropolitan Airport offer exceptional passenger service, providing access for cargo airlines is critically important to the entire region."
