XPO Logistics launches Europe-Morocco two-way less than truckload link

CONNECTICUT's rapidly expanding XPO Logistics has launched a new pallet distribution and groupage service between Europe and Morocco, reports Lloyd's Loading List.

XPO Logistics US$3 billion purchase of Michigan-based Con-Way, a Fortune 500 trucker, with 582 offices and 30,000 staff, puts into the international big leagues after its recent buyout of French logistics giant Norbert Dentressangle.

Now, shippers can avail themselves of an inbound and outbound less that truckload service from Europe to any destination in Morocco by using XPO's European and domestic LTL network service, Red Europe.

With a single-pallet minimum, the XPO said the service allows customers that have business interests with Morocco to arrange regular imports and exports in twice-weekly shipments Wednesdays and Saturdays.

XPO Logistics, through French-based merger partner Norbert Dentressangle, has had operations in Morocco since 2009, working in the manufacturing, automotive and components, textile and chemical sectors.

"This new service broadens our current Red Europe service offering, and strengthens XPO Logistics' position as one of the largest transport operators between Europe and Morocco," said a company spokesman.

"We cross the Strait of Gibraltar over 10,000 times per year. And looking ahead to 2016, we are working on new projects designed to further expand our footprint in Morocco to meet our customers' needs," he said.
