Autumn Festival yacht races from Hong Kong to Macau September 26-28
TWENTY-FIVE sail boats will from Hong Kong to Macau on Saturday September 26 and Monday September 28, says the Hong Kong Marine Department in a warning to mariners.
Masters, coxswains and those in charge of vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution, giving consideration to contestants. Compliance with International Regulations for Preventing Collisions is mandatory.
The outbound voyage from Hong Kong will start at 1000 hours on September 26 in an area south-east of Lama Island in the vicinity of Yuan Kook Light.
Depending on the weather, it will follow Course 1, that is a westerly route through south of Lama Island, south of Tai A Chan, thence to Macau if the wind is coming from the north.
If the wind is coming from the south, Course 2 will follow a south-westerly route through the southern boundary of the Hong Kong, thence to Macau, said the Marine Department.
The return trip from Macau to Hong Kong will start at 1000 hours on September 282015 and will follow Course 1 through south of Tai A Chan and to complete the race at a position east of Cheung Chan if the wind is coming from the north.
But if the wind is coming from the south Course 2 will follow a route through south of Xiaozhi Zhou, the southern boundary of Hong Kong to complete the race at a position east of Cheung Chau.
