Morpho to equip Birmingham airport with explosives trace detectors
MORPHO Detection is to deploy, service and supply Birmingham Airport Ltd in the United Kingdom with its desktop Itemiser 4DX ETD explosives trace detectors to identify trace amounts of explosives on skin, clothing, carried items, bags, vehicles and other surfaces.
The airport will use the new equipment to replace legacy systems and enhance explosives screening capabilities to meet new European Union regulations for passenger screening.
Said Morpho Detection CEO Karen Bomba: "The detection and operational capabilities of Itemiser 4DX, combined with Morpho's rapid-response global service teams, achieves the highest levels of system uptime and performance."
The equipment will eliminate administrative, regulatory, storage and shipping requirements associated with a radiation-emitting trace detection source. So far 800 of these explosives trace detectors have been shipped, said the company.
