Jotun's Jotachar fire-resistant paint "winning the offshore market share'
JOTUN's Jotachar JF750, a mesh-free Passive Fire Protection (PFP) epoxy coating system for structural steel, is setting new standards in the oil and gas sector in benefits and sales, the Norwegian company claims.
Launched two years, by the company based Sandefjord, Norway, 110 kilometres from Oslo, the coating has already attracted substantial orders from some of the biggest names in the industry.
"Many millions of kilogrammes of Jotachar JF750 have been installed since, and are now protecting offshore units against a broad range of fires.
"Customer experience shows Jotachar reduces risk, time and cost during installation and increases safety during operation. Oil and gas companies are approaching us to protect high-value assets," said Jotun sales chief Andy Czainski.
Jotachar is fully compliant to the latest revision of Norsok M-501, widely considered to be the industry's most rigorous durability test standard, proving corrosion resistance, material durability, mechanical and fire performance after exposure.
Jotun is one of the world's leading manufacturers of paints, marine, protective and powder coatings. The group has 68 companies and 33 production facilities on all continents.
Jotun products are available in more than 90 countries through its own subsidiaries, joint ventures, agents, branch offices and distributors. Jotun's total sales in 2014 were NOK17.5 million (US$2.15 million) and employs 9,600 staff.
