Ahmedabad firm to start Madhya Pradesh-Gujarat flights from September 27
BOOSTING Gujara and Madhya Pradesh connectivity, city-based GSEC Aviation Ltd is set to start inter-state and intra-state air service from Madhya Pradesh from September 27, reports the Times of India.
GSEC Aviation, a subsidiary of GSEC Group, will begin intra-state airline service in Madhya Pradesh besides connecting cities in Gujarat and Maharashtra with Madhya Pradesh.
The service is expected to roll out with the first flight between Indore and Ahmedabad. The airline will also serve Jabalpur, Gwalior, Raipur, Nagpur, Satna and Birwa among others.
Said GSEC executive director Shaishav Shah: "This service is being launched in association with the MP [Madhya Pradesh] government with an aim to boost tourism in MP as well as increase air connectivity in the state."
The company recently acquired a nine-seat Cessna Grand Caravan 208B Aircraft for INR130 million (US$1.9 million). All the seats in the aircraft will be executive class and tickets will be priced between INR4000-INR7000.
According to Mr Shah, the aircraft will be operated under a lease agreement with Supreme Transport Organisation Pvt Ltd.
Starting with Madhya Pradesh, company plans to take the service across India. "We will be purchasing around 20 aircraft over next two years and add destinations in our service simultaneously. This will be done in partnership with various state governments and private operators," Mr Shah said.
GSEC Ltd already has air cargo complexes at Ahmedabad, Indore, Vishakhapatnam and Raipur airports and handles both domestic as well as international cargo.
This will be second airline service by a Gujarat based company. Last year, Surat-based Diamond Aeronautics Ltd, an airline owned by diamond barons, began daily flight services between Surat and Bhavnagar.
