European ports to discuss infrastructure development at Rotterdam meet
THE Port Infrastructure Development conference will be held from September 1-3 in Rotterdam, where representatives from the European ports of Rotterdam, Hamburg, Dover and terminal operator Mott Macdonald will address port and terminal asset maintenance, rehabilitation and expansion projects.
Industry professionals will discuss best practice planning, design, construction, delivery and asset management to manage costs and ensure maximum productivity. Speakers will discuss the challenges faced throughout the full lifecycle of various projects from feasibility, design and construction to the life extension of various structures.
With mega-ships of 19,000 TEU now entering the container shipping market, ports worldwide are aware of the urgency to adapt infrastructure to accommodate such monolithic vessels. The question is how to ensure these projects are delivered on time and within budget?
Case studies will be presented by Rotterdam's Henk Voogt, asset manager for port infrastructure; Port of Hamburg Authority's Jens Erik Wegner, landside port, infrastructure; Drammen port's director, Einar Olsen; head of projects Humber, Associated British Ports, Simon Brett; Europe ports sector leader, Mott MacDonald, Sean Barker; head of port development, Dover, Nigel Bodell; and deputy CEO, Port of Cork, Denis Healy.
