Hugh chemical explosion China rocks in eastern Shandong province
ANOTHER big explosion ripped through a chemical plant in eastern Shangdong province, killing one person and injuring nine less than a fortnight after two blasts killed more than 100 in the Port of Tianjin, Reuters reports.
The fire in the interior Huantai County was extinguished after five hours and authorities said no contamination has been detected, Xinhua said.
Windows shattered at the blast site in Zibo City, the county seat, state media said, and tremors could be felt two kilometres away. Some 150 fire fighters and 20 appliances were sent to the scene.
The explosion destroyed a factory belonging to Runxing Chemical, a subsidiary of the Runxing Group with CNY200 million (US$31 million) in registered capital, Xinhua reported.
