IATA Cargo Security forum in Montreal to turn spotlight cyber crime
SECURITY experts attending the International Air Transport Associations" (IATA) Cargo Security and Facilitation Forum in Montreal, Canada from September 29-30 will be discussing ways to secure the cargo supply chain against cyber attacks and reduce the exposure of aviation industry stakeholders to this growing threat.
The topic is of increasing importance given that the introduction of more efficient, sophisticated and globally integrated IT networks is making the aviation industry more vulnerable to cyber attacks.
Cyber attacks in the aviation industry can result in fraud, operational disruption, theft of information, digital sabotage, and could put at risk the lives of passengers, crew and ground personnel.
Other IATA conferences taking place in Montreal at the same time is the ULD Regulatory Forum that will focus on the safety responsibilities of the various stakeholders involved in unit load device operations, and the Cargo Claims and Loss Prevention Conference that starts on September 29 and continues until October 1.
