KTZE Khorgos, a Kazakhstan-China DP World initiative buys Kalmar gear
KALMAR has secured two contracts to supply mobile equipment to Kazakhstan's new inland dry port, KTZE-Khorgos Gateway, including two DCT80-45E7 empty container handlers and six DRT 450 reachstackers.
Seven TT 612d terminal tractors are also to be delivered along with ten terminal chassis. All units are scheduled for delivery by the fourth quarter.
KTZE-Khorgos Gateway is a greenfield dry port under development on the Kazakhstani Chinese border to be completed in 2018 and expanded to 580 hectares and act as a key transit point, linking the east with the west.
It will serve as one of the largest international transport logistics and distribution centres for Kazakhstan, China and other countries in the Eurasian region. The port is owned by national multimodal operator JSC, KTZ Express, a 100 per cent subsidiary of national railway company, Kazakhstan temir zholy, and operated by KTZE-Khorgos Gateway LLP in cooperation with DP World.
KTZE Khorgos Gateway CEO Karl Gheysen said the joint initiative between Kazakhstan and China "aimed at facilitating trade with China, mainly in the development of transit potential of both countries. This will contribute to the practical implementation of a transcontinental corridor project, from western Europe to western China".
