Azerbaijan's Silk Way West cargo carrier take in Boeing 747-8 freighter
BOEING has delivered a 747-8 freighter to Azerbaijan airline Silk Way West, a unit Silk Way Airlines, the company announced.
"Thus, the number of Boeing 747-8 Freighters on the balance sheet of Silk Way West has increased to three. The new aircraft will perform flights to Singapore and Komatsu, Japan," it reported.
According to the contract with Boeing, Silk Way West will acquire two cargo planes Boeing 747-8 freighter whose arrival in Azerbaijan is expected in the first half of 2016.
"With the acquisition of new Boeing 747-8 Freighters, Silk Way West expects to expand its air cargo business. In addition to a Boeing 747-8 Freighter, the airline operates three Boeing 747-400 Freighters," the press release said.
Silk Way West is one of the largest air carriers in the region, which carries out charter and scheduled flights worldwide, including in Europe, the Middle East and East Asia.
