Korean Air likely to operate in Pakistan after formal call on agency

A KOREAN Air delegation, led by managing vice president Song Bo, called on the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to say it was considering making a comeback to Pakistan, reported the Lahore Daily Times.

The Korean delegation told TDAP chief executive SM Muneer that the purpose of their visit was to study the feasibility of the Korean Air's various avenues of cooperation between Korea and Pakistan.

Mr Muneer said the airline could gain a huge business in exporting fresh fruit and seafood to far as well as export other perishables.

The TDAP chief also said a huge vacuum of air cargo and passenger flights to the Far East has been created in Pakistan and the Korean Air should exploit this opportunity.

Mr Song said he and his colleagues were impressed with the trade activities in Pakistan and he would inform the top management of the airline about the business opportunities.

Operating direct flight of Korean Air from Pakistan would not only increase Pakistan's exports to Korea but also boost Korean exports of perishables to Pakistan and far eastern markets, he said.
